What happens during the procedure?
The procedure generally has four steps. The first is anesthesia, you will be given medication to make you comfortable, in most cases this will be a general anesthetic, and you will be asleep for the procedure. The second step involves an incision; this step can be done differently depending on the surgeon, but is generally done at the hair line or a few inches into your hair. The third step is to close up the incisions which is done with removable stitches, skin adhesive, surgical tape and/or special clips. The last step is for you to see the results.
What can I expect during recovery?
Immediately following your procedure you may have a thin tube that will help drain away any excess fluid, and your head may be taped. You may experience some bruising and swelling and your head may be loosely wrapped. The wrapping will help minimize swelling and bruising.
Downtime for this procedure is typically ten to fourteen days and sutures, or special clips will be removed during this time. Most patients can return to their normal activities two weeks after the procedure. However, you are not completely healed at this time, and a full recovery could take several months. Once your incisions are healed you can use cosmetics to mask any present bruising.
How long will it take to see results?
The results of your brow lift will be immediate. However, swelling may exacerbate the results and give you a surprised look, this along with incision lines will fade over time. The final results of your procedure will be seen three to four months after the procedure is complete. To help maintain your results you should always protect your skin from the sun to minimize sun damage. This will greatly help you decrease the chances of more wrinkles forming in the future.
